The Teochews are the second largest Chinese dialect group in Singapore, and Teochew cuisine has established itself in the country. Among the many Teochew restaurants, Teochew Restaurant Huat Kee stands out with its consistent reputation.

In the 1920s, founder Mr. Lee Er Di arrived in Singapore and took charge of the kitchen. With nearly a century of culinary heritage, Teochew Restaurant Huat Kee has been operating for over 50 years.

Teochew Restaurant Huat Kee has expanded its business to include seafood processing, import-export, and more, with a complete production line—an exceptional feature in Southeast Asia.

From a small stall near Tan Tock Seng Hospital to prominent locations in the city, Teochew Restaurant Huat Kee has transformed into a multinational corporation with multiple brands, while maintaining its dedication to preserving traditional Teochew cuisine.

In 2017, we were recognized as one of the top 30 bronze award-winning restaurants and received the prestigious title of "Best Asian Restaurants Awards."

In 2018, we were once again acknowledged as one of the 29 bronze award-winning restaurants in the category of "Asian Masters".

We have consistently been featured in the renowned "Black Pearl Restaurant Guide," highlighting our excellence in the culinary world.

Milestones/Our History

1969

Since our grandfather's time, Teochew Restaurant Huat Kee has been dedicated to cooking authentic Teochew cuisine for upscale households in Singapore and Malaysia. Starting as a small stall near Thong Chai Medical Institution, we have grown to operate three stalls in Singapore's central business district, specifically at Ellenborough Market.

1993

In 1993, Teochew Restaurant Huat Kee moved to 76 Amoy Street and established an air-conditioned restaurant. Our business gradually grew.

2001

We began collaborating with a factory in Taiwan to produce ready-to-eat abalone and fish maw.

2010

We started collaborating with a factory in South Africa.

2017

We acquired Dover EX 27 Pty Ltd in Australia, specializing in the production of vacuum-packed canned abalone. As a supplier, we process custom products for over 50 global brands.

In 1988, Teochew Restaurant Huat Kee relocated to the renowned Gay World Amusement Park, catering to the growing popularity and demand of our brand. We sought a suitable location to enhance the dining experience for our loyal customers amidst the rapid rise of Singapore's central business district.

1998

In 1998, Mr. Lee Chiang Howe officially took over and renamed the restaurant as Teochew Restaurant Huat Kee (1998) PTE LTD.

2001

We began collaborating with a factory in Taiwan to produce ready-to-eat abalone and fish maw.

2003

Teochew Restaurant Huat Kee relocated to 74 Amoy Street and expanded to include 73 Amoy Street. We continuously received positive feedback from local and overseas customers, constantly striving to improve our service quality.

2010

We started collaborating with a factory in South Africa.

2015

We sourced high-quality ingredients globally and established the TPI factory in New Zealand in 2015, together with partner Richard Manning. Our factory produces premium ready-to-eat abalone, fish maw, and custom seafood products for various brands.

2017

We acquired Dover EX 27 Pty Ltd in Australia, specializing in the production of vacuum-packed canned abalone. As a supplier, we process custom products for over 50 global brands.

2020

Dover EX27 Pty Ltd's vacuum-packed abalone, including braised canned abalone, has received approvals from the US FDA (Food and Drug Administration) and China's AQSIQ (General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China), allowing for exports to the United States, mainland China, and other regions.
